What is your worship style like?
We sing both hymns and praise and worship music every Sunday morning. If you don’t know the song, it’s no big deal because we project the words on the screen for every song.

What do I need to wear to church?
We have people that wear all kinds of things to church. Some of our older folks wear dress clothes and some of our younger folks wear blue jeans and a nice shirt. We’re less concerned with what you wear than the simple fact that you are there!

Do you have a nursery?
Yes we do. Every time we have service, we have the nursery open to free up moms and dads so that they can freely worship God. However, if you don’t want to put your kids in the nursery, they are more than welcome to join you in service. We’re flexible.

Is there any way you can come and pick me up for church?
Yes we can and we would love to do that if you live in Bonne Terre. To schedule a ride or to let us know you will be regularly riding the van, just call the office. (573)358-4302

What is Sunday School like?
We have Sunday School classes for all ages from younger kids to older adults. Sunday School starts at 9:30 AM. Every class is different and has its own unique style. We have some classes that are open to both men and women and some classes that are only for men or only for women. Whatever you’re looking for we probably have a class where you will feel welcome. Every class makes it a priority to pray over prayer requests and spend time studying the Bible. If you have come a couple of times already or if your visit will be the first time, we encourage you to try out our Sunday School classes.

What should I do if I want to join your church?
You can come and talk to Pastor Daniel anytime or you can simply come down to the front of the sanctuary during the altar call at the end of a service on Sunday. We will want to talk with you to make sure that you have accepted Christ and have been baptized by immersion in a church of like faith and practice. If you haven’t been baptized or you aren’t a Christian yet, we will help you do those things first before being considered for membership. Ultimately, the power of membership lies in the hands of the church. Once they vote to affirm your membership, then you will be a member of our church. If sounds complicated, but it’s really not; just come and talk with us and we will answer any questions that you might have.

What are the ordinances of Sonrise Baptist Church?
The ordinances of a church are prescribed religious practices that we are instructed to do by Jesus Christ. At Sonrise we practice the ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper (communion).

What should I do if I want to be baptized?
Just let Pastor Daniel know. He will want to make sure that you have become a Christian first, but once that has been figured out we will get to work planning a baptism service.

Who can take the Lord’s Supper (Communion)?
The Lord’s Supper is open to all believers who are in a position to take the Lord’s Supper in a Biblical manner.

I’m going to be getting married soon, can I get married in your church?
To get married at Sonrise you have to either be a member in good standing for the last year or else the close relative of a member in good standing. Call us to get more details and to setup a meeting to get the ball rolling. (573)358-4302

What are your business meetings like?
They are pretty easy going affairs. There will be times where there will be discussion or questions asked, but we strive very hard to make sure that they are fair, giving everyone the right to voice his/her opinions and concerns. We have them every quarter on a Wednesday night. All members are encouraged to attend. Only members have the right to vote on church business.
